Flash Security Advisory

A critical Adobe Flash bug is under active attack.  Successful exploitation of the bug could allow a hacker to take control of the affected system.  To protect against this threat it is important to make sure that you have the latest security patches for all Adobe products, but especially Flash.

Adobe originally released a security advisory after the initial revealing of the bug by the Kaspersky Labs team.  The original release date was June 14th 2016 but there are still a very large number of affected machines.  The Vulnerability identifier is APSA16-03 and it affects Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS platforms.

If possible we recommend completely uninstalling Adobe Flash.  Adobe Flash has provided eight of the top 10 vulnerabilities used by exploit kits in 2015.  Unless you need Flash for a specific business purpose it would be safer just to uninstall it.

Most of our monitored systems do not have Adobe Flash installed, but a few of them still do.  If you think you may have Flash installed but do not need it anymore, please submit a ticket at:  http://support.istam.net and we will be happy to remove it for you at no additional cost if your systems are covered by our MSP services.  If you are not on our MSP plan there will be a very reasonable “by the minute” charge for the service.
