Fake Anti-Virus Alerts

The dreaded fake security center virus is back in full storm again.  A few months ago we saw this virus resurface for a couple of weeks and then quickly dissappear.  Well it is back and has some new and agressive features from totally rendering your workstation useless.

Watch out for pop-ups on webs sites that say your computer is being scanned.  If you can catch it in time, you can shut down the system, or use control+alt+delete – taskmanager to shut down Internet Explorer.

If not you will start getting pop ups indicating that your computer is infected from your task bar.  It even looks just like a windows pop-up balloon that says you need to purchase the fake software presented by the virus.  We assume they just want your credit card information.

At that point it is best to disconnect your system from the network if present and call us.  We can clean your system and restore it to working order.  Call us today if you have been inftected with this virus.

NOTE:  We have seen this infection get past Nortons, Panda, and AVG software in the last couple of weeks so beware.  Just because your AV is on and up to date doesn’t mean you can’t get it.
